You spend New Year's Eve alone. You can hear the music thud from house parties near by, and then the countdown to the New Year. You can hear the fireworks at midnight go off, from your loungeroom. The frivolous sounds last approximately 8 minutes and then there's quiet. You close your eyes and wish yourself a New Year. You hope for less pain, and more strength. You wish for happiness and lesser tears. And sitting there, you close your eyes and press your lips together. You are alone, but sobbing quietly, and you don't know why you're still so quiet, because it's only you here, wishing yourself 366 potential happys for the New Year.
